Aspen

Having Grant asleep in my bed is surreal. When I look at him, I can’t help but think about how many nights I dreamt of this moment.

His chestnut brown hair is messy and still slightly wet from the shower we took together once we got back to the cabin. We could hardly keep our hands off each other as we got cleaned up, and I’m shocked we made it out without my cock ending up inside of him again.

I slip out of the bed as quietly as I can and head into the kitchen. Grant deserves fresh coffee and breakfast in bed to wake up to. It’s only five in the morning, but I want to get a head start.

Last night, as we were laying in bed, he told me about everything Tom did. The bastard didn’t appreciate at all what he had in front of him. Grant deserves the entire fucking world, and my old best friend made him feel like Grant was a burden to the world instead.

The muscles in my jaw tick as I remember every word that Grant told me last night.

I want to know everything that he is and make my reaction to his every expression automatic. “Grant, baby…tell me how he hurt you,” I ask, my eyes pleading with him. Grant looks down, his jaw tensing. He sighs as his eyes close, his shoulders drooping down in defeat.

“He…cheated. That’s what ended it. But I should have left earlier. After high school, he changed for the worst. Tom spent countless nights yelling about the stupidest shit that he said I did wrong. He’d raise his voice and treat me as if I was the root of all of his problems. I emotionally checked out of the relationship and started going to therapy six months before I left. Him cheating on me was the turning point for me – my chance to get out.” Grant’s raw and emotional voice as he speaks his truth sends chills through my body. All I want to do is comfort him and show him what it’s like to be protected and treated like he is the most valuable thing on this planet. I rub my thumb over his plump bottom lip and smile, wiping his tears as he looks up at me.

“I will go to the ends of this earth to prove to you that everything he did to you was wrong. You’re so fucking strong and deserve everything I am and ever will be and more. You got that, baby?” I say softly, sealing my lips to his as if I were sealing my words with a promise.

“I know, Aspen. I think fate brought me here to find you again.
